A GCMS Special Education Behavioral Intervention Policy and Procedures Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the GCMS High School Senior Lounge/Conference Room.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the Policy and Procedures that are followed when students with IEPs have behavioral/emotional difficulties at school.
On Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3:30 p.m., a meeting conducted by the Ford County Special Education Cooperative will take place in the Unit Office/Board Room of Paxton-Buckley-Loda CUSD 10, 1 Panther Way, Paxton. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the plans made by Paxton-Buckley-Loda CUSD #10 (PBL) and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley CUSD #5 (GCMS) for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private schools and home schools within the districts for the 2017-2018 school year. If you are the parent of a private school or home-schooled student who has been or may be identified with a disability and you reside within the boundaries of PBL or GCMS, you are urged to attend. A free developmental screening is being offered to families with children age birth to five years old in the GCMS School District or Ford County. These screenings may take around an hour.
Children three to five years of age will receive screening for vision, hearing, speech and overall preschool skills. Free preschool classes are available to children who qualify.
Children from birth through age two will be screened for developmental readiness skills and referrals may be made to Child and Family Connections for children who may qualify for services.

Preschool screening is a service of the Ford-Iroquois Preschool Cooperative, Ford County Public Health Department, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley CUSD 5 and the Ford County Special Education Cooperative.
The Ford County Special Education Cooperative will, on or after June 1, 2017, destroy the special education temporary records in its possession of those students: (1) born on July 1, 1990 through June 30, 1991, and (2) any records of students born earlier not previously destroyed. Any person who may have records included in the previously mentioned group may contact the Ford County Special Education Cooperative office at 217-784-5470 to claim his/her records prior to June 1, 2017.

The FCSEC Executive Committee will hold special meetings on January 9th and January 10th. The Committee will be in closed session most of the meetings with the exception of the Call to Order, Roll Call and Adjournment. No action will be taken during either meeting. The agendas follow:
